When we heard the news that one of our good friends, Chris, was getting married this summer, we knew that we would be off to Texas for the big event! Chris was one of the groomsmen in our wedding. Come to find out, the big day was scheduled on a very important day, our little man's first birthday! We decided to turn the trip to Texas into our summer vacation and bring the kids with us as well as my mom, and that we could celebrate Jonah's birthday in Texas! We had a great time in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, somewhere that we had never been to before. We definitely got the country experience in Cowtown (AKA Fort Worth) with a cattle drive, the Stockyards, and a wild west show. We spent Jonah's birthday at the Fort Worth Zoo before heading to the wedding later that evening. We also hit the sites of Dallas, including Dealy Plaza where JFK was shot and toured the new Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, which just opened in June. There was a lot to do and see, and we also were able to relax some at the pool at our condo in Runaway Bay. The condo was nice, but was out in the middle of nowhere!! When I had googled Runaway Bay, and saw that the Shell gas station was listed as one of the two "dining establishments" of the town - that we were in for a small town experience!! Oh well, it met our needs and we had a great family vacation in Texas!
