San Diego, California

The day after Hallowe'en, the kids and I took off for the west coast ,to spend a few days in San Diego with our great friends from Hawaii - Karen, Mateo and Noah Crespo. Carlos is currently deployed with the Marines so Karen and I had a blast with four children three years of age and under! Karen and I met when we were pregnant with Sydney and Mateo, who are just six weeks apart. We've been planning their wedding now for more than three years - they're soulmates! It's been nearly two years since we left Hawaii, so the kids had actually not seen each other for more than half of their lives. It was so neat to see the two of them interact and really, they still had a special connection - it was as if they remembered one another. They were holding hands just hours after our plane landed! We also finally got to meet Noah! It was fun to watch all of the kids interacting together.
We had a great time! The plane ride wasn't horrible - but let me tell you, it is quite awkward changing diapers in an airplane bathroom without a change table and with a three year old under foot!! Not to mention, it's a bit difficult assisting Sydney on the potty while holding Jonah and then having to pee myself in that ever so tiny cubicle of a bathroom - of course with both kids in there with me!
But, San Diego is such a beautiful city. It was a bit chilly, by southern California standards anyways, while we were there. We really enjoyed a trip to the San Diego Zoo. Another highlight of our trip was going to Seaport Village and the horse drawn carriage ride that we took there. I can't wait to go back again and am really hoping that our next visit with the Crespo fam will not be another two years away.

How fun! You guys were so brave but friends are worth it and how awesome that the kids were able to pick up where they left off. I've never been to San Diego but it sure sounds like fun!
